Contributes to the success of the team and overall Canadian Banking First Line Testing program, ensuring individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the unit’s business strategies and objectives.
Executes planned testing activities to evaluate the adequacy, adherence and effectiveness of KYC/AML controls in Canadian Banking (CB) business lines, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
o Collaborating with peers and managers to analyze and define specific testing requirements
o Working independently to execute on planned testing activities, in accordance with testing scripts and relevant policies/procedures
o Sampling customer accounts and transactions, reviewing related processes, and reconciling associated business-line metrics and key risk indicators to determine compliance
o Preparing reports on test/review findings and communicating these to appropriate business units and partners, as well as ensuring investigation and correction of any control defects brought forward are in place
o Concisely and accurately recording issues in the Bank’s integrated issues management platform (GIMS)
o Validating the actions taken by management to remediate, and to assess the sustainability of these actions to close, reported testing issues.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
• 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry
• Post-secondary education, preferable in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
• Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to focus on critical issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian Banking regulations – Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Anti- Terrorist Financing (ATF)/Know Your Customer (KYC)/Sanctions, Enterprise Privacy, Code of Conduct
• Thorough knowledge of Scotiabank policies and procedures, system applications, operations, support functions, and complaint resolution standards
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian Banking delivery channels, products, benefits and services
• Highly motivated; demonstrated ability to multi-task and deliver in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with partners/stakeholders, and influence change with numerous, cross-functional teams
