Reporting to the President of Medavie Health Services, the Senior Director, Integrated Emergency Health Services, Medavie Health NL is responsible for providing strategic leadership and assuming responsibility for the overall operational and financial management of the organization to further its mission.
The Senior Director, Integrated Emergency Health Operations is responsible for cultivating a results driven organization and instilling a culture of innovation and service excellence. The Senior Director, Integrated Emergency Health Services will develop and nurture strong collaborative relationships with all employees and local, regional, and provincial partners. Above all, the Senior Director, Operations will drive the successful transformation of MHNL by enabling a culture of high quality, patient focused care, inclusiveness, strong fiscal management, accountability for results and continuous innovation. In doing so, the successful candidate will ensure that strategies, plans, and practices are aligned with organizational goals and the province’s objectives to form seamlessly integrated clinical care pathways that effectively serve all the health needs of the population.
The Senior Director, Integrated Emergency Health Services is a pivotal leader who supports the strategic direction set by the Board and President of Medavie Health Services. Collaborates with senior management to implement and refine the Strategic Plan for MHNL, setting clear objectives and strategies. Ensures the organizational structure is highly effective, staffed appropriately, and focused on achieving strategic business goals. Recruits develops, and leads a high-performance team inspired by MHNL's mission and vision.
Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with governments, health authorities, unions, community groups, Indigenous partners, media, and the public, positioning MHNL as a trusted health services provider in Newfoundland.
Oversees financial management, including revenues, expenses, budgets, and reports to the President and Board on performance.
The Senior Director, Integrated Emergency Health Services is a transformational leader crucial for Newfoundland's health care modernization plan. The ideal candidate has a proven track record as a high-performing executive and excels at balancing innovative service delivery with fiscal responsibility. They demonstrate exceptional leadership by building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and have a stellar reputation in health care, especially in community and home care.
Professional Qualifications & Competencies:
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive professional and leadership experience in the health sector (governmental, non-governmental, not-for-profit, commercial), complemented by post-secondary education in health, public, or business administration.
Executive Leadership: Extensive senior executive experience with a deep understanding of healthcare planning in Newfoundland. Experience in organizational transformation is highly desirable.
Strategic Vision: Proven ability to create and communicate a vision, translating it into actionable strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrates holistic decision-making, setting a clear and shared vision for focused action.
Risk Management: Expertise in anticipating and managing business risks, particularly in complex deals. Strong decision-making skills in challenging situations, with proficiency in contract negotiations, focusing on financial and legal aspects. Committed to transparency and accountability.
Relationship Building: Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, employees, and stakeholders. Influences others through strong communication skills and teamwork, always prioritizing the organization's best interests.
Political Acumen: Politically astute, capable of building and sustaining strategic partnerships. Understands the significance of key relationships and balances diverse interests, including political considerations.
Growth Opportunities: Adept at identifying new growth opportunities and taking calculated risks. Persuasive in reaching agreements and negotiating outcomes that benefit the organization and all parties involved.
Healthcare Dedication: Passionate about healthcare and achieving excellent patient outcomes. Collaborative, open, and respected by peers. Confident and self-aware, consistently acting ethically and honestly with the Board, President, colleagues, and the public.
