The Ministry Services Division provides enterprise-wide support services for the Department of Energy and Minerals and ensures alignment with and adherence to related Government of Alberta policies.

The Business Services Branch conducts planning, reporting, and evaluation to enhance the ministry’s performance, transparency, and accountability, which supports achievement of ministry objectives. The branch is responsible for coordinating and providing accommodations services, assisting with end-user escalations, and supporting corporate operations to help department staff carryout the business activities of the ministry. The branch is expanding its corporate strategic initiatives and operations team with this position.

The unit of Corporate Strategic Initiatives and Operations works with senior leadership and the department staff to help develop, communicate and implement corporate strategic initiatives and potentially operational department priorities in support of the departments current and future business plans.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Strategic Initiatives and Operations, you will be part of a team of professional staff dedicated to supporting the strategic initiatives and operations of the Business Services branch and department priorities. The unit is currently seeking to hire two agile and dynamic Senior Analysts who will utilize their expertise in Project Management, Change Management and knowledge of Human Resources to contribute to strategies and initiatives such as the ones identified above.

In this role you will collaborate with stakeholders, assess and prioritize issues, research and coordinate actions to contribute to the success of the branches priorities. You will support the Manager in the development and implementation of the department’s technology and engagement strategies. This work includes developing and implementing a procurement plan (RFQ/RFP) for external services and goods, which may require workshop design and facilitation services, management and executive coaching and other learning and development services, and supporting communications materials.

To be successful in this position, you must be self-motivated, have problem solving skills, facilitation skills, collaboration and consensus building with others from within and outside the ministry. You will be required to collaborate with senior ministry representatives to develop recommendations and solutions with your analysis, reasoning, evaluation and judgement.

Qualifications

Minimum University graduation in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications or a related field supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience in project management.

Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

The following will be considered assets:

  • Experience managing or coordinating projects and multiple programs.
  • Experience in driving learning and development, presenting and/or facilitating sessions.
  • Experience working in the public sector or within public sector decision-making processes. 
  • Experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience leading analytically focused teams.

Hours of Work: 

  • 36.25 hours per week (full time) Monday to Friday.


Term of Employment:

  • There are two full-time Temporary position for 2 years.
