The Ministry of Hospital & Surgical Health Services is building a more resilient and sustainable acute care system that can support Albertans getting emergency, hospital-based and specialized care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes and maintaining fiscal responsibility. The ministry delivers acute care services for Albertans, including: hospital-based services, emergency health services, lab and diagnostics, cancer care, tissue and organ donation and surgical procedures.

Role

Reporting to the Deputy Minister, you will lead the planning and enhancement of the quality and delivery of acute care services across the province. This will include developing strategic recommendations, options, policy, and legislation that will improve quality and access standards, reduce wait times and ensure effective monitoring and aggregating of performance measures. You will oversee the building of plans for current and future acute care delivery, set evidence-based standards, data and analytics to enhance system reporting and performance management. Your excellent communication and influential skills will lend to strong networks and relationships with complex stakeholders and partners. You have experience leading strong teams accountable for program delivery and you demonstrate an understanding of government and department priorities.

 

Qualifications

This pivotal role demands a performance driven, influential leader with extensive related executive experience in challenging multi-stakeholder environments.

 

Your career reflects extensive executive leadership experience with proven strengths in acute health systems or acute care delivery, policy development, multiple stakeholder engagement, managing complex issues and a collaborative and integrated approach to achieving corporate goals. 

 

You have demonstrated understanding of government structure and decision-making, legislative frameworks, accountability processes and policy development mechanisms.  A practiced relationship builder, you excel at engaging stakeholders in shaping and implementing high impact initiatives. Your capacity to inspire and empower change-agile teams will support you in delivering on key objectives. Understanding of health system priorities, acute care delivery, and issues within the political, economic and global environment is also essential to your success. Related post-secondary education is preferred.

 

Salary

$6,403.39 to $8,403.71 bi-weekly.  ($167,128 - $219,336 / yearly)
