Salary: From 54000 to 74000 per Year
 

Our client in the Non-Profit space is hiring a Pension Administrator to join their team full-time, and fully remote in Toronto. This permanent role is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical individual with experience in defined benefit pension plans, including exposure to commuted values and setting up pensioners. The Pension Administrator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate administration of the orginzations pension plan. This includes calculating pension benefits (e.g., retirements, terminations, past service purchases) in accordance with plan rules and legislative requirements. The role also focuses on delivering exceptional customer service to plan members, supporting internal teams, and assisting with various administrative and reporting duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond professionally to pension-related inquiries via email.
  • Triage and manage incoming communications from plan members.
  • Provide pension documents and plan information upon request.
  • Resolve or escalate member concerns or issues.
  • Understanding of the commuted value (CV) process and calculations.
  • Calculate pension benefits (retirement, death, marriage breakdown, etc.).
  • Validate and issue tax receipts for past service purchases.
  • Maintain accurate records in the pension administration system (PABAS).
  • Meet deadlines and uphold internal quality standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Benefits Centre and other departments.
  • Update data entries and pension payroll system to ensure timely payments.
  • Coordinate with ADP to ensure retirees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Support new pensioner setup and commuted value settlements.
  • Assist with year-end pension data preparation and regulatory filings.
  • Support the production and validation of Annual Pension Statements.
  • Prepare CRA reports (e.g., Pension Adjustments, T4s).
  • Compile data for actuarial valuations and reports. 

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in defined benefit pension administration.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian pension legislation and DB plan structures.
  • Exposure to commuted values and setting up pensioners.
  • Excellent Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote team environment.
  • Comfortable managing confidential and sensitive information.
  • CEB, CEBS, or PPAC certification (or currently working toward it).
  • Experience working with third-party pension providers.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with PABAS or similar pension administration systems.
