Contributes to the overall success of the Credit Portfolio Management, Transformation & Automation under Global Risk Management (GRM), focusing mainly on Canada, but with exposure to our Global footprint by supporting the creation and execution of the Advanced Capabilities Office, and ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Strategic Discovery & Opportunity Identification
    • Lead high-impact discovery sessions with GRM teams to assess current-state processes and uncover systemic inefficiencies.
    • Identify and scope transformation opportunities through process reengineering, intelligent automation, and AI/GenAI integration.
    • Evaluate and prioritize initiatives based on enterprise alignment, feasibility, and measurable value creation.
  • Process Optimization & Automation
    • Architect and implement streamlined, scalable workflows that enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and resilience.
    • Champion the deployment of automation technologies including RPA, workflow orchestration, and AI/ML models.
    • Drive adoption of LLMs/GenAI for advanced decision support, document intelligence, and predictive analytics.
  • Transformation Leadership & Program Enablement
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to co-lead GRM transformation programs from ideation through execution.
    • Act as a strategic change agent, aligning transformation goals with enterprise credit portfolio management objectives.
    • Monitor and report on program milestones, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
    • Develop compelling narratives and insights to communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to executive stakeholders.
    • Facilitate workshops and strategic forums to align diverse stakeholder groups and secure initiative buy-in.
    • Build and sustain strong partnerships across GRM, Technology, and Business Lines to drive collective ownership.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making
    • Use data analytics for discovery, root cause analysis, and performance tracking.
    • Develop KPIs and dashboards to measure transformation outcomes.
  • Governance & Risk Management
    • Develop compelling narratives and insights to communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to executive stakeholders.
    • Facilitate workshops and strategic forums to align diverse stakeholder groups and secure initiative buy-in.
    • Build and sustain strong partnerships across GRM, Technology, and Business Lines to drive collective ownership.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation
    • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in credit risk and AI.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement within GRM and across partner teams.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 6-7 years of progressive experience in analytics, transformation, or risk management roles, with a proven track record of leading complex process redesign and optimization initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of credit risk mitigation strategies, portfolio management, and global regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSFI E-23, Basel III, OCC).
  • Advanced proficiency in data science tools and languages such as Python, R, or SAS, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data analytics and AI/ML to inform strategic decisions and drive operational improvements.
  • Experience with BI and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to develop executive dashboards and performance metrics.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams, including Technology, Risk, and Business Lines.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to senior leadership and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project and change management capabilities, with experience managing multiple high-impact initiatives concurrently.
  • Financial acumen combined with sound judgment, creativity, and a continuous improvement mindset.
