Job Title: Retail Compliance Officer (Permanent, Onsite – Mississauga HQ + Travel to GTA Stores)
Location: Mississauga, ON
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Travel: Up to 50% across 37 retail store locations in the GTA

We are currently seeking an experienced Retail Compliance Officer on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing organization in the retail food sector. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based out of their head office in Mississauga, with regular travel to retail locations across the GTA.

The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of compliance regulations related to lottery, alcohol, and tobacco sales, and have experience conducting audits, delivering training, and supporting store-level adherence to regulatory standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys field work, and is passionate about driving compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and evolve compliance programs focused on lottery, alcohol, and tobacco regulations across all retail stores.

  • Conduct scheduled and random audits across multiple store locations, identifying non-compliance and driving corrective actions.

  • Deliver compliance training and workshops to store staff and management to ensure consistent understanding and application of policies.

  • Monitor regulatory changes and make recommendations to maintain company-wide compliance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development and implementation of standardized procedures and compliance best practices.

  • Validate training programs, documentation, and staff records to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

  • Investigate compliance breaches, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventative measures.

  • Act as a subject matter expert and resource for compliance-related inquiries across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or auditing, preferably within alcohol, tobacco, or gaming sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of OLG, LCBO, and Tobacco Control Act regulations.

  • Experience conducting field audits and implementing compliance controls.

  • Proven ability to deliver training and provide coaching in a retail or multi-unit environment.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across departments.

  • Must hold a valid G driver’s license and be willing to travel regularly within the Greater Toronto Area (approx. 50%).

Preferred Certifications:

  • CannServe and/or Store Serve Certification 

Additional Information:

  • Education: Post-secondary education preferred.

  • This is an onsite role based out of Mississauga, with travel to 37+ store locations.
