As a Graphic Designer, you will communicate with clients, supervisors and coworkers to establish the overall look, graphic elements and content of communications materials in order to meet their needs.
You will determine medium best suited to produce desired visual effect and the most appropriate vehicle for communication.
You will design camera-ready & digital ads and documents for publications including the Base newspaper, marketing and sponsorship programs.
You will communicate guidelines for illustrators or photographers. Retrieve and use photo, illustration and typography banks when available, and perform file conversions for different computer platforms.
You will produce and manipulate digital photographic images using scanning, colour correction and clipping paths.
You will perform quality control on projects produced to guarantee industry standards are met. Pre-flight files to ensure pre-press specifications - specific to press or final output requirements are included and accurate.
You will design and prepare for print the Base Book and other like publications.
You will advise on the length of time or duration to complete an assigned design project.
Education, Certifications and Licenses
College Diploma or Certificate in graphic design, commercial art or graphic communication or a related field AND some years of experience in multimedia or a related field
Experience
In newspaper and publication design and layout
In MAC troubleshooting
In creating and producing graphic materials using a wide range of media, methods, techniques and equipment
In graphic design for the Web
In using desktop publishing programs

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
PSP: Keep our Canadian Armed Forces operationally ready and their families and military community healthy as part of the team at Personnel Support Programs. Personnel Support Programs contributes to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs to military communities across Canada and members while on deployment.
