Agilus is recruiting for a Piping Engineer in the Oil & Gas Industry in Calgary, Alberta.
Reporting to the lead, static equipment engineering the piping engineer provides piping engineering support to site Value Streams under the frame of the Plant Engineering Management and the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System PEIMS
Responsibilities:
The Piping Engineer is responsible for providing mechanical piping design and engineering support to ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable operations
Delivering piping design support for modifications and projects under Operations, Maintenance, and Sustaining Capital budgets to mitigate risks to availability and long-term reliability
Developing Construction Work Packages (CWPs) within the static equipment engineering discipline
Supporting maintenance and construction teams with piping system design, including selection of piping classes, review/development of layouts, isometrics, fabrication drawings, pipe stress analysis, pipe supports, and valve/fitting selection
Calculating torque values for bolted piping connections to ensure joint integrity and leak-free operation
Ensuring compliance of piping designs with applicable specifications, standards, regulations, and the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIM)
Reviewing, evaluating, and approving changes to piping systems through the Management of Change (MOC) and Engineering Work Order (EngWO) processes
Providing timely technical support to planning, contracting, and procurement, including responding to RFIs, reviewing bids, conducting technical evaluations, and assessing vendor recommendations and deviations
Requirements:
Experience with Caesar II and AutoPIPE for piping stress analysis is typical, and familiarity with 3D modelling tools like Inventor or SolidWorks, as well as FEA software such as FE Pipe, would be advantageous.
Preference for candidates with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) experience, ideally with owner-side exposure and the ability to review construction work packages
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, or a related discipline, with 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in piping systems design within oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, mining, or energy facilities
P.Eng designation or eligibility for registration in Alberta
Strong knowledge of applicable piping standards and codes (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, CSA Z662, etc.)
Proficient in the Safety Codes Act and ABSA regulations related to piping systems
Proficient with 2D/3D drafting software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks
Working knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) using commercial software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, Nastran and/or FE/PIPE with NozzlePRO
