We are assisting our reputable client in the geoscience industry with the search for a Senior Front End Developer.

Location: Calgary, AB – Hybrid (2 days in the office)
Compensation & Perks: $140,000–$150,000/year plus health benefits, RRSP contributions, profit sharing, employee stock purchase plan, educational reimbursement, and more.

Role Overview:
You will work on a cloud-based geoscience auto modeling application that uses advanced machine learning to help users extract insights from drilling data quickly and efficiently.

As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will collaborate closely with product designers, domain experts, and back-end engineers to create intuitive, high-performance, and visually engaging interfaces using React. A significant aspect of this role involves integrating and enhancing our 3D visualization library, enabling interactive, scalable, and responsive exploration of complex geoscience datasets directly in the browser.

You will excel in combining technical expertise with usability-focused design, delivering smooth user experiences while writing maintainable, modern JavaScript/TypeScript code. You will also contribute to architectural decisions, optimize rendering performance, and turn design concepts into production-ready features.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop responsive, high-performance UIs using React and TypeScript.
• Integrate and extend 3D visualizations for large geoscience datasets.
• Collaborate with designers and back-end developers to deliver user-centric features.
• Architect scalable, maintainable frontend codebases.
• Optimize rendering performance and overall user experience.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold development best practices.
• Plan and manage frontend release cycles, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Contribute to software design decisions and technical strategy.
• Lead small projects and support cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on frontend web development.
• Proven experience maintaining production-ready applications.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.

Assets:

• Experience with Flask or FastAPI.
• Experience building frontend applications with Three.js or other 3D web rendering tools.
