The Manager is a key contributor to the overall success of the International Banking Expense Management team. They will directly support with the reporting and forecasting a portfolio of the IB Head Office expenses and conduct analyses and investigations to identify expense optimization opportunities. The Manager will also be responsible to develop and optimize expense data and reporting tools to inform executive decision-making and the work conducted by the team.  They will also oversee various core-financial processes which may include expense policy management, compliance, and journal entries preparation. 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Analyze and provide meaningful insights into a portfolio of expenses.
    • Develop, maintain, and optimize the data reporting framework utilized by the IB Expense Management team to analyze actual results and perform forecasting and planning.
    • Perform reasonability of P/L expense accounts to support the integrity of the quarterly results and the timely completion of the regional quarter end reporting package.
    • Monitor results against appropriate performance measurement criteria and key metrics.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of cost categories with large variances.
    • Oversee a portfolio of Head Office expenses, obtaining deep understanding into results, forecasts, and key business drivers.
    • Provide support to Finance and Head Office partners by coordinating with them as required.
  • Conduct special project, continuous improvement and recurring executive support analyses in key Finance processes.
    • Execute special projects and respond to priorities and Executive Management requests on a wide range of expense/allocation/other topics.
    • Support the integrity and timely completion of monthly and quarterly forecasting process.
    • Recommend and implement continuous improvements to the systems and processes to better meet corporate, regional, and business line requirements.
    • Support the annual profit plan exercise, overseeing the completion, inclusion, and analysis of a portfolio of Head Office expenses.
  • Support with core finance processes.
    • Prepare journal entries during month-end, as required. Process payments to invoices, Chargebacks to countries and prepare support documentation.
    • Administer all requirements of the departmental Business Continuity Plan.
    • Act as a liaison between other Finance/Accounting groups and country partners.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • A professional accounting designation or MBA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and stewardship capabilities in a complex and changing environment.
  • A superior understanding of elements of effective control over integrity and completeness of financial reporting; attention to details.
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver high-quality results under very tight deadlines; continuously assess priorities and business requirements, and balance between regular deliverables and priority Executive requests.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • A solid understanding of financial and management reporting principles; ability to sustain a broad-based knowledge of the Bank’s and International Banking’s strategy, operations and procedures.
  • Advanced user proficiency with computer applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Hyperion, SmartView and any other productivity tools.
  • Strong communication skills (listening, documentation, and presentation skills); ability to work effectively in a team environment with peers and superiors across organization lines.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is an asset.
