The mandate of Corporate Finance is to support the delivery of City services by: providing excellent service to the public and City departments; partnering with our clients to develop innovative solutions to business needs; and ensuring compliance with all legislation, by-laws and other governance requirements for financial reporting, planning, budgeting, accounting, treasury, and financial systems.
You are responsible for providing analytical support and advisory services to the Senior Commodity Tax Analyst, management and staff in the administration of commodity taxes across the corporation. You ensure that legislative requirements and corporate guidelines are met, and identify opportunities for operational improvements in business processes to maximize tax recoveries and minimize assessments.
Completion of 4 year university degree in Accounting, Commerce, Public Administration, or related field; or enrolment in a professional accounting program
Minimum of 5 years of experience in commodity taxation, accounting, auditing, or financial analysis/reporting, preferably in a public service body or municipal environment.
