About the Role:

As a Data Modeler, you will be responsible for designing and managing data models to support operational systems on Azure, with a focus on operational data models and NoSQL databases. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and Maintaining Data Models: Create and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data models tailored for operational systems and integration use cases Azure SQL for operational data and NoSQL databases for flexible, scalable data structures. Analytical and dimensional modeling experience is a nice-to-have but not required.

  • Collaborating with Stakeholders: Work closely with business teams, including stakeholders and analysts, as well as IT professionals, to gather and refine data requirements for the program.

  • Data Profiling and Analysis: Perform data profiling and analysis to establish, refine, and maintain robust data models that meet business needs.

  • Conceptual Modeling: Build conceptual data models to identify key business entities and visualize their relationships, ensuring alignment with operational goals.

  • Logical Modeling: Develop detailed logical models that define entities, attributes, relationships, and their characteristics, optimized for both relational (Azure SQL) and NoSQL environments.

  • Physical Modeling: Convert logical models into physical models for Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, and NoSQL databases, generating DDLs or equivalent schema definitions for implementation teams.

  • Testing and Deployment: Test DDLs and schema implementations to ensure consistency and performance across all environments (development, testing, production).

  • Design Workshops: Participate in and facilitate design workshops to align business data needs with the data model, ensuring clarity and consensus.

  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve model conflicts arising from competing business requirements, ensuring a balanced and effective solution.

  • Collaboration and Signoff: Partner with global business units, architecture, and delivery teams to review, finalize, and adopt data models.
