The mandate of the Rail Construction Program is to transform, develop, grow and sustain Ottawa’s Light Rail Transit Systems as a component of the City of Ottawa’s overall transportation and mobility strategy. The Vehicles, Signaling, Testing and Commissioning Unit manages the transition of trains and systems projects to full operation, including design, construction, integration, testing and commissioning of light rail projects; delivery of the Transit Operations Control Centre head end upgrade for all rail systems; and delivery of City-led technology projects such as emergency radio repeater systems.
You are responsible for providing a primary point of contact and subject matter expertise for light rail vehicle projects related to the City's Rail Construction Program; providing technical review of light rail vehicle designs; overseeing and monitoring the manufacturing, delivery, and testing and commissioning of both light rail vehicles and other systems within the transit network for the Rail Construction Program and ensuring compliance with the requirements of the project agreement; and contributing to the development of technical standards for the Rail Construction Program. Additionally, you will support the Testing & Commissioning program through project delivery and closeout, including test witnessing, procedure and report development, along with deficiency management during the program and following handover.
Completion of 4 year university degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or other related field
Minimum of 8 years of experience in light rail vehicle engineering related work on large-scale infrastructure projects and/ or rail transport and/or transit systems
