The City of Ottawa provides waste collection to 298,000 single family households and 115,000 multi-residential households at 2,000 properties across the City. The City is working on expanding the Green Bin program to all apartment buildings and townhome complexes across the City and is seeking motivated, knowledgeable, and communicative individuals to support outreach and education initiatives.
You will assist in promoting and educating residents about the City’s Green Bin program and undertake door-to-door canvassing to deliver information and answer questions about the Green Bin program.
You will be required to work flexible hours to attend outreach events, assists with reporting on activity and event outcomes, assist with responding to inquiries on programs and projects from public and community groups.
You will perform other related duties consistent with the duties outlined above, assists with public outreach including educational events pertaining to departmental programs, which may involve public speaking, presentations and general communication on various programs and services.
You provide data entry and records management support for the many operational staff (Supervisors, Coordinators, and Program Managers) in the assigned unit; produce reports from systems; and resolve common concerns and provide basic technical assistance and information to the public (residents, developers, contractors, etc.) on the services, products, procedures, and programs delivered by the Department, including arranging appointments, creating requests and work orders, attaching appropriate structures and activities, and entering data into relevant systems to initiate and track related actions.
Experience in an administrative environment, public speaking, customer service, and event planning, working with solid waste or recycling programs would be considered an asset
Completion of 2 year community college diploma in business or environmental management studies
