Responsible for providing strategic guidance and project management expertise on climate change mitigation initiatives across the corporation. The incumbent leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of climate-related projects and programs, with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing the City’s Climate Change Master Plan. Key areas of work may include zero-emission transportation, electric vehicle infrastructure, renewable energy integration, climate adaptation strategies, and policy development.
The role involves designing and implementing cross-departmental initiatives, managing external consultants, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with municipal climate goals. The incumbent also conducts business case analyses, monitors utility and operational impacts, and contributes to the development of climate policies and performance metrics. This position plays a critical role in driving innovation, securing funding, and delivering measurable environmental outcomes.
Completion of 4 year degree in Environmental Science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Physical Geography), Public or Business Administration, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in supporting operational, strategic and business planning, and in managing/evaluating projects relating to program development and related initiatives, within a public works or utility environment. Experience should include conducting research/analysis, interacting with the general public and environmental regulators, and managing external consultants.
