Our client in the public sector is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager (Contractor) to lead a critical technology infrastructure project. This is a 12-month, part-time engagement (approximately 20 hours per week) with the potential to extend. The role will involve managing the delivery of IT infrastructure and equipment to support a large-scale training facility modernization initiative.
This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned project manager with strong IT infrastructure deployment, stakeholder management, and business case development experience who thrives in collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide full-cycle project management from initiation through to closeout.
Develop business cases, project charters, and governance reporting.
Manage schedules, budgets, risks, and vendor performance.
Oversee the installation and deployment of IT infrastructure and equipment across training and meeting facilities.
Lead cross-functional teams, including technical specialists and external contractors.
Report regularly to governance committees and senior leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
8+ years of project management experience with 4+ years in full-cycle IT technology projects.
Proven IT infrastructure project delivery experience (mandatory).
Strong background in business case development and governance committee reporting.
Experience managing multiple vendors and contracts.
Exposure to construction or facility-based IT projects considered an asset.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
PMP certification is an asset but not required.
Comfortable working in a hybrid model (onsite ~1 day per week).
