Our federal government client is seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety professional to support a workplace hazard assessment and job hazard analysis initiative at a federal site. The role involves conducting in-depth evaluations of job tasks and environments to enhance safety practices and ensure regulatory compliance.
Conduct workplace hazard assessments and develop job hazard analysis tables for up to 13 different roles within an industrial operational environment
Identify, document, and classify occupational hazards based on interviews, site inspections, and job data
Recommend control measures using the hierarchy of hazard controls (elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative, and PPE)
Assign risk levels using a structured matrix and report any urgent safety issues within two hours of discovery
Collaborate with safety officers and personnel to collect and analyze data on job-specific activities and tools
Prepare draft reports in Microsoft Word summarizing findings and proposed mitigation strategies
Finalize hazard assessment reports after incorporating feedback from internal stakeholders
Submit editable deliverables in Microsoft Excel and Word formats, compliant with government documentation standards
Participate in kickoff and progress meetings, and maintain consistent communication with project authorities
Ensure confidentiality of sensitive operational data and return all project-related materials upon contract completion
Minimum 3 years of experience within the last 10 years performing workplace hazard assessments in industrial settings
Proven experience designing and conducting job hazard analyses in complex work environments
At least 36 months of experience using Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel in a professional capacity
Certified as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals
Security clearance at the Reliability level or the ability to obtain it before contract initiation
Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in occupational health and safety or a related field combined with experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage reporting deadlines and ensure compliance with Canadian OHS legislation and federal standards
