Our public transit client is seeking a Junior Accountant to support their finance operations during a key transition period in a hybrid capacity. With the upcoming retirement of a long-standing team member, they are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional to take initiative and contribute across all areas of accounting and financial reporting.
This role will work closely with an external Controller and will support both day-to-day accounting and higher-level financial analysis for a member-based organization.
Manage the full-cycle accounting process, including general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Oversee invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure timely and accurate processing.
Administer expense management and employee reimbursements.
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
Lead month-end and year-end closings, preparing accurate financial statements and reports.
Coordinate with and support external auditors, ensuring a smooth audit process.
Prepare and file all required tax and regulatory compliance filings (corporate tax, HST, payroll remittances, etc.).
Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls.
Provide financial analysis and variance reporting to support the management team and guide decision-making.
Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting across the organization.
Work with QuickBooks Online and a newly implemented CRM system to generate reports and insights.
CPA designation (or in progress) strongly preferred.
Degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance required.
2–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, macros)
