Position Overview

The Management System Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining the organization’s Environmental and Quality Management Systems in alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards. This role involves planning and conducting internal audits, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and working closely with quality assurance, engineering, manufacturing, and other departments to ensure compliance, enhance system performance, and support operational excellence

Responsibilities

    • Lead the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
    • Working closely with the Quality Manager, the Management System Coordinator will:
    • Lead the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
    • Plan, conduct, document, and follow up on internal audits to assess compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
    • Drive the prioritization, planning, execution, and verification of continuous improvement initiatives across departments.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality and environmental considerations into engineering design and manufacturing processes.
    • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date documentation and records related to the management systems.
    • Deliver training and provide guidance to staff on quality and environmental procedures, standards, and best practices.
    • Monitor changes in regulatory and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance and system relevance.
    • Analyze process and deviation data to identify systemic issues, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
    • Recommend and support the implementation of process and procedural changes based on evolving regulatory requirements and business needs.
    • Drive accountability for the optimization of the Quality and Environmental Management System through performance monitoring, metric analysis, and reporting.
    • Perform other related duties as required to support the success of the management systems and organizational goals

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a two-year technical diploma in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Years experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, engineering, project management, continuous improvement, or a technical role within a manufacturing environment—preferably in the space, aerospace, or defence sectors.
  • At least 2 years of experience conducting internal audits of quality or environmental management systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable management system standards is considered an asset (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100, CSA N299).
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and maintaining technical documentation and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Training in quality or environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and/or formal auditor certification is considered an asset.
  • Training in continuous improvement methods (e.g. Lean Tools, Root Cause Analysis, and DMAIC) is considered an asset.
