The Director of Engineering is responsible for the engineering execution and delivery of technology solutions and lead the development and optimization of our Salesforce and nCino platforms.  This role will be responsible for driving engineering excellence across commercial lending workflows, CRM modernization, and digital transformation initiatives. The Director will collaborate closely with business leads, product managers, and technology partners to deliver scalable, secure, and client-centric solutions that support origination, adjudication, fulfillment, and monitoring processes. Reporting to the Head of Commercial and Core Banking, this role plays a key part in translating vision into executable plans and ensuring those plans are delivered with a high level of quality, stability, and stakeholder alignment.

•    Manage and mentor a high-performing team of Software Engineers, Technical Leads, and Engineering Managers.
•    Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the engineering organization.
•    Build a high-performance environment, engineering culture and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, and develops talent.
•    Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring, team development, and leadership practices.
•    Define and execute the engineering strategy for Salesforce and nCino platforms, aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
•    Own the technology roadmap and budget for the domain, ensuring delivery of high-impact functionality and operational resilience. Lead cross-functional squads to deliver outcomes that contribute to broader business objectives, including AI integration and data modernization.
•    Executes on the strategic roadmap, as defined by the Business Lead and leadership team ensuring seamless transition from strategy to technical implementation, and fostering continuous feedback loops between engineering and the business.
•    Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
•    Ensure adherence to agile delivery practices, DevOps principles, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
•    Ensure all card systems meet regulatory, compliance, and security standards.
•    Collaborate with business and other technology partners such as Risk, Collections, Fraud, Data Analytics, Audit, and Cybersecurity teams to proactively identify and mitigate technology risks.
•    Establish and monitor KPIs and SLAs for system performance, availability, and incident response.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

•    10+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership 
•    Deep knowledge of Salesforce (Lightning, Financial Services Cloud) and nCino Bank Operating System.
•    Experience with CRM strategy, data migration, and platform integration (e.g., Precision Lender, Kafka, Talend, APIs) 
•    Strong analytical skills and problem-solving to rapidly assess risks and issues.
•    Expert knowledge of software development and design principles for highly scalable, enterprise level technology stacks.
•    Expert knowledge in modern agile principles and in a range of modern technologies and frameworks including working knowledge of the full stack.
•    Background in commercial banking, lending services, or financial services technology.
•    Flexibility to adapt to new and evolving environments and a demonstrated willingness and aptitude for picking new things up quickly.
•    Strong leadership and relationship building skills.
•    Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to semi-technical audiences.
•    Enthusiastic and passionate about customer experiences, innovation and delivering software.
•    Curious mindset, love for innovation and foster collaboration.
•    Love to help others thrive and work best in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
•    Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills with proven ability to manage multiple competing and complex initiatives
