Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Program Management, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading a portfolio of corporate premises construction projects—including renovations, expansions, relocations, new builds, and special initiatives of varying scope and complexity.

 

As the Bank’s primary liaison for internal stakeholders, this role drives consensus on project strategies and ensures efficient execution. The incumbent oversees the full project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with user group needs, Bank standards, and budgetary goals. They lead external consultants and vendors to deliver high-quality outcomes and uphold service excellence across branches, executive offices, and subsidiaries, in accordance with the Bank’s Guidelines for Business Conduct.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Deliver timely, cost-effective design and construction strategies aligned with business needs, including annual construction program planning.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of real estate projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery that meets Bank standards.
  • Lead the selection and management of external design and construction teams—including architects, engineers, and contractors—to achieve project objectives.
  • Oversee RFP and tender processes, monitor project expenses, and serve as the financial control point throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate and execute contracts that optimize value and mitigate risk for the Bank.
  • Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, including design, leasing, asset management, and facilities.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and closeout documentation. Conduct site inspections, coordinate change orders, and administer contracts.
  • Maintain accurate project reporting systems, proactively flagging delays or risks and recommending solutions.
  • Mentor and coach junior project managers and administrators, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve project management efficiency, cost savings, and service delivery.
  • Ensure consistent service delivery aligned with Bank standards and procedures across all internal client groups.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Education & Experience: Degree or diploma in Architecture, Engineering, Design, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted. Progressive experience in construction project management.
  • Industry Knowledge: Advanced understanding of design, construction, and real estate business practices.
  • Project Leadership: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build consensus and influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Vendor Oversight: Experience managing external consultants and contractors with competing priorities.
  • Negotiation Skills: Professional, persuasive, and tactful approach to contract negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with project management tools, budgeting software, and reporting systems.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish/English or French/English is an asset, depending on assignment.

 

Work Arrangement: Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Travel may be required on an exception basis.
