We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sales Manager to join our team at The Westin Bear Mountain Resort & Spa, located in beautiful Victoria, BC.
This key role focuses on driving revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives, expanding into new markets, and staying ahead of trends in the hospitality industry.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Vancouver Island hotel market, particularly in group bookings, conventions, banquets, and corporate events. Success in this role will come from building strong client relationships, embracing innovation, and delivering tailored solutions that meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across group, corporate, convention, and association segments within local and provincial markets.
Drive hotel occupancy and revenue by opening new markets and anticipating industry trends.
Promote the hotel's full range of services—including banquet facilities, meeting and event spaces, convention centre, spa, and guestrooms—to prospective clients.
Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and provide insights to the General Manager.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with meeting planners, corporate clients, travel managers, and event organizers.
Conduct sales calls, site inspections, and attend industry events and trade shows to generate leads and represent the hotel.
Respond to group and event inquiries promptly and professionally, delivering tailored proposals and contracts aligned with client needs.
Maintain accurate records of client interactions, proposals, and contracts using Marriott CI/TY and related CRM systems.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
Analyze market trends and sales performance data to identify high-potential opportunities and guide strategic sales planning.
Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator to enhance the hotel's digital presence, support targeted lead-generation efforts, and contribute to marketing campaigns aligned with business goals.
Provide clear, concise weekly reports on sales activities and business development progress to the General Manager and Event Manager.
Collaboration & Execution
Work closely with the Events and Operations teams to ensure group sales align with hotel capacity and strategic objectives.
Plan, coordinate and oversee the execution of all group contracts and reservation requirements, ensuring alignment across departments and seamless service delivery.
Contribute to continuous service improvement by staying informed on client needs, budget considerations, and evolving tourism trends.
Promote a collaborative team culture focused on consistently exceeding guest and client expectations.
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management, Business, or Sales & Marketing (preferred).
Experience: Hotel Sales: 3 years (required)
Education: Bachelor's Degree (required)
Based in the Greater Victoria area; this is a full-time on-site role.
Ability to commute/relocate:
Victoria, BC V9B 6R3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Fluency in English required; additional languages considered an asset.
