The Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) Branch of Executive Council coordinates Alberta’s engagement with other Canadian governments in pursuit of outcomes that enhance Alberta’s status as an equal partner in the federation and achieve a federal system that better serves Albertans’ needs. IGR is responsible for supporting the Premier’s intergovernmental agenda, missions, and meetings. To that end, IGR works with ministries to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to intergovernmental relations. IGR also reviews and approves all of Alberta’s intergovernmental agreements to ensure they are consistent with Alberta’s goals and objectives.
