The role:


Contributes to the overall success of the Agile Cloud Enablement Program and Agile squads that are being coached ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures with particular focus on Enterprise Delivery and Agile Delivery Standards.

 

The Agile Coach is one of the key leaders in promoting the Agile mindset and helping build the Agile adoption and capabilities within ACE – Agile Cloud Enablement program and across Business partner relationships.  This role will anchor the Agile Coach team and will work across multiple teams within the organization proactively engaging all teams (Agile and Waterfall) to build capabilities and scale Agile. The coach trains and mentors’ Agile teams, leaders, and executives within the organization to leverage Agile principles, practices, and frameworks to deliver high value business capabilities. They serve as a subject matter expert on scaling Agile development for the team, or teams, they are coaching, and work to transform an entire portfolio by observing, evaluating, and implementing changes to solve organizational and cultural impediments. They embrace leadership and display behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with being Agile.  They identify opportunities for continuous improvement and influence change at all organizational levels

 


What will you do?

 

  • Foster an Agile mindset within the organization
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

Leadership: Coach senior leaders in agile practices to enable them to be effective Agile Champions and change agents. 

  • Responsible for providing knowledge and expertise around agile processes while coaching leadership roles to successfully lead and manage concepts.
  • Work with the Technology organization to help launch and coach scaling efforts and Agile programs.
  • Lead and mentors teams in following an experimental mindset, and drive the successful delivery of outcomes
  • Assess programs and teams against agile best practices and provide recommendations to teams and senior leadership.
  • Conduct and manage Agility Health/Maturity assessments to help the organization develop and grow in their Agile journeys.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of agile frameworks to recommend innovations that enhance delivery within the organization. 
    Acts on opportunities for continuous improvement.

 

Teams: Mentor team-level project managers / facilitators/scrum master’s in communications and process activities to ensure projects are on track and metrics are clearly identified so that the trajectory meets commitments.

  • Train and coache Portfolio Leads, Program Managers, Project Managers, Directors, Technical Leaders, Stakeholders, and Agile Coach candidates.
  • Deliver Agile training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one coaching at the team, program and portfolio levels. Foster continuous improvement, build agreements, and promote a shared understanding in alignment with business vision, roadmap, and dependencies with other value streams.
  • Foster/lead and support communities of practice.
  • Provide guidance on creating Agile artifacts and working to meet minimum Enterprise Delivery Framework Standards Develop and monitor metrics to enhance teams’ performance, velocity, and Agile maturity level to aid in accelerating overall Agile transformation efforts.
  • Be informed and educated about industry trends concerning Agile methodologies and shares knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy,
  • Adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. 

 


What do you need to succeed?

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering, business, information sciences or other related field - Masters / MBA considered an asset
  • 4- 5  years of experience working in an Agile team as Scrum Master/Product Owner
  • Experience with distributed teams and multi-language teams
  • 5  years execution/delivery experience leading large cross-functional/cross-geographic projects  and training/facilitation skills
  • 3+ years working with multiple Agile Teams
  • Deep understanding of Agile with hands-on experience
  • Strong knowledge of Distributed Agile and tools to enable team building across geographies (LATAM, Canada, Mexico, US etc.)
  • Excellent facilitation skills in leading teams in the adoption and improvement of Agile mindset, practices and processes
  • Adaptive coaching style with the ability to work with teams at various levels and in different locations
  • 2+ years’ experience in a highly regulated environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to influence management and teams
  • Professional Agile Leadership certification (PAL preferred)
  • Scrum Master (CSM/PSM)
  • Product Owner (CSPO/PSPO) SAFe certification desired
  • Coaching certification or willing to invest in obtaining.
