Building and maintaining our provincial infrastructure is no small job.
The Department of Public Works designs, constructs and maintains provincial highways, public buildings, bridges and other related infrastructure. Our District Highway Services Division is responsible for managing major capital construction projects, snow and ice control services, along with road maintenance and repair services.
With a mandate to provide the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, maintenance and upkeep of our highway system is paramount to our core responsibilities.
As the Senior Development Engineer, you lead the coordination, review and approval of development applications for the Central District; including residential or commercial access to existing roadside lots, subdivision of existing lots, and development of large residential, commercial and community initiatives.
You have several important responsibilities which directly impact the development of annual and multi-year development projects, all the while ensuring the integrity of the provincial highway system. In this capacity, the Development Engineer reviews transportation studies relating to municipal and private developments and service demand by using standard engineering methodologies along with computerized travel demand forecasting models, as well as other innovative analysis techniques.
Reporting to the District Director, and working closely with the Area Managers, you will have a lead role in reviewing and approving technical reports and drawings; ensuring stable progression and continuity of design projects and initiatives. You will also:

Your time will be split between an office environment and travel throughout your area visiting work sites, reviewing roads and bridges, and travel for meetings in various weather conditions.
Please note this salary is part of the Civil Service Master Agreement, which expired on March 31 2024.
This position involves travel throughout the Province; a valid driver’s license and daily access to a reliable motor vehicle is necessary.
Pay Grade: PR 18
Salary Range: $3,231.58 - $3,800.42 Bi-Weekly
