The Position:
As a Senior Accountant, you will join our Financial Reporting team, reporting to the Director of Accounting & Reporting. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of operational and financial reporting tasks, with responsibilities as follows:
Analyze periodic results and provide explanations for the budget, forecast and prior year variances
Prepare and review journal entries, working papers and reconciliations
Maintain 150 plus lease portfolio's: tracking and related accounting in accordance with ASC 842
Provide reporting on lease portfolio, previous experience with Lucernex will be considered an asset
Analyze and reconcile variances between the general ledger, sub ledger and systems
Proactively identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
Research, analyze and implement new accounting standards or changes to compliance requirements
Assist with managing the annual audit process
Document and ensure compliance with processes and internal controls
Develop a detailed understanding of ORACLE and how it connects to associated programs
Prepare ad hoc report requests from Operations teams and/or management
Provide support to junior accountants
Our ideal candidate:
A professional accounting designation; CPA or working towards.
Minimum 4 years progressive experience in the accounting field, preferably in a high transactional industry or with an accounting firm
Thorough understanding of accounting standards, previous experience with US GAAP will be considered an asset.
Strong time management skills, able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment with the ability to prioritize
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and processes
Displays a positive attitude with a willingness to learn
A solution focused, collaborative approach to continuous improvement
Excellent oral and written communication and people skills; ability to quickly gain the trust and confidence of team members, leaders and others within the organization across different locations
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring deadlines are kept and achieved
Exceptional Excel skills with the ability to manage, analyze and simplify large amounts of data
Working knowledge of ORACLE or similar ERP systems and Power Query, Power BI or other data analytic tools would be an asset
