As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, as a Fitness and Sports Instructor, you will
have the opportunity to lead Fitness, Sports and Aquatics programs for a very highly
motivated and professional clientele. Daily, you will develop, deliver and assess Tactical
programs based on established employment standards to ensure the members of the
Canadian Armed Forces can safely and effectively perform their duties in operations.

The holder of this position must be a generalist who masters some outdoor and sports
disciplines. It must develop, organize and animate outdoor activities among the
following: climbing, archery, canoeing, cycling, cross-country skiing, hiking and any
other outdoor activity. He is also involved in the day camp specialized in sports and
outdoors. In addition to the tasks associated with outdoor activities and sports, the
person occupying this position, depending on his skills and the needs of the recreation
department, may be called upon to take on aquatic and/or fitness tasks, such as group
classes (e.g. spinning, yoga, CrossFit, bootcamp, stretching, etc.) or pool supervision.
Skills on demand
Experience in physical activity and fitness, for example: teacher, instructor, specialist,
sports and gym coordinator
Physical activity and fitness training, for example: kinesiology, physical educators,
fitness specialist
Knowledge of certain team sports, for example: basketball, volleyball, cusom hockey,
etc.
Knowledge or interest in certain outdoor activities
Knowledge or interest in aquatic activities
Education, Certifications and Licenses
College diploma in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a
related field
(OR An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience will also be
considered)
Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate
Experience
In evaluating, planning and organizing the delivery of aquatic programs
In preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions
In instructing health and physical fitness training modules
In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
In evaluating physical fitness
In aquatics programs
