The Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services is building a more resilient and sustainable health care system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes, and maintaining fiscal responsibility. The ministry supports Albertans’ health and well-being throughout their lives by protecting public health and promoting wellness; coordinating and delivering safe, person-centered, quality health services; planning capital infrastructure; supporting innovative information management and technologies; regulating health care; and funding the health system.
The Corporate Planning and Reporting Unit (CPR) provides corporate services support to the Ministries of Primary and Preventative Health Services and Hospital and Surgical Health Services. As a shared corporate services provider, the Unit leads corporate processes and deliverables relating to business planning, performance reporting; enterprise risk management; and provincial health agencies planning and performance reporting accountability requirements. The unit relies on cross-department input and feedback to complete corporate planning and reporting deliverables and briefing materials for Deputy Minister and/or Minister approval.

The Corporate Planning and Reporting team is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Planning and Reporting Advisor to join the Corporate and Capital Planning branch. This role, reporting to the Manager, Planning and Reporting, provides expertise and support in all phases of provincial health agencies’ planning and performance reporting processes and products, including, health plans, business plans, operational plans, bi-annual performance reports, and annual reports. This position works within established frameworks, standards, and timelines to ensure an integrated approach within Primary and Preventative Health Services and consistency of information to meet legislated and policy requirements.
The Planning and Reporting Advisor uses strategic planning and project management expertise to coordinate and complete projects involving the Minister, Deputy Minister, Senior/Executive Management Team members, and other senior department staff. The Advisor leads in developing a variety of written materials to support decision making, as well as preparing recommendations for the approval of planning and reporting documents via briefings and written responses through Action Requests.

Minimum Requirements:
University graduation in a related field (e.g., public administration, business, economics, communication, etc.) plus four (4) years progressively responsible related experience.
Required:
Experience and/or a combination of education and experience in strategic planning, business planning, health care planning, performance measurement, operational planning, and performance and accountability frameworks. Exceptional writing and editing skills are also required.

This is a full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
