Product Specialist - Retail Technology (RFID)

Altis Recruitment

North Vancouver, British Columbia

Salary: From $65 to $95 per Hour

Our client, a leading technical apparel brand is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative Product Specialist – RFID to support the planning, execution, and evaluation of an RFID pilot across select stores. In this role, you’ll bridge the gap between business operations, technology, and vendor partners to define hardware/software requirements, coordinate implementation activities, and ensure a smooth user experience for store teams.

While your primary focus will be on RFID, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a broader range of retail technology initiatives as they evolve. You'll play a critical role in translating frontline feedback into actionable insights, supporting issue resolution, and laying the groundwork for a potential RFID program expansion.

This is a contract opportunity requiring hybrid work from the client's office in North Vancouver. Candidates must be elligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering & Documentation
  • Collaborate with store operations, inventory, and loss prevention teams to gather business requirements and use cases.
  • Document current and future state processes, RFID technology data flows, and hardware/software interactions.
  • Partner with technical teams to validate system integration requirements and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
User Experience & Change Readiness
  • Develop user guides, SOPs, and training materials tailored to frontline teams.
  • Capture and synthesize feedback from pilot stores to inform enhancements or changes to the RFID solution and other in-store software.
  • Support the development of change management plans and communication strategies to prepare teams for future rollout.
Pilot Implementation & Support
  • Support end-to-end delivery of an RFID pilot in select stores, including coordination of hardware setup, software configuration, and store team training.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between store operations, IT, vendor partners, and internal product teams during the pilot period.
  • Track, triage, and escalate pilot issues as needed, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact to store operations.
Performance Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Assist in defining pilot success metrics and tracking outcomes (e.g., inventory accuracy, cycle count time, shrink reduction).
  • Support the analysis of pilot data and provide recommendations for go/no-go decisions and scaling.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of other emerging retail technologies as needed.
Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of experience in product support, business analysis, or operations roles, ideally within retail or logistics.
  • Exposure to RFID technologies and other retail technology solutions (e.g. inventory management, POS, loss prevention)
  • Strong documentation and process mapping skills (e.g., flowcharts, SOPs, requirements documents).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - able to work with technical and non- technical stakeholders.
  • A bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and an eye for continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery practices, ITSM tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow), and retail hardware/software ecosystems is an asset.
