Job Description and Responsibilities:

RF background

  • Responsible for the RF engineering design and system performance of wireless networks.  
  • Radio systems and new sites design and integration lead for GSM/UMTS/HSPA/LTE & NR
  • Applies propagation theory, cellular theory, RF engineering tools and antenna theory to select tower antenna placement, height, site configuration and power to maximize coverage, capacity and performance of the network.
  • Conduct EMF analysis to comply with ISED/SC6 Regulations

Team Work

  • Assist in developing design guidelines, devise new approaches, conduct technical studies and improve standard engineering processes.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders from other engineering disciplines (ex. Planning, Core Networks, Network Implementaion, Real Estate,  OSS, PMO, Operations and NOC, etc)
  • Project management, planning and resource management

Leadership

  • Ability to provide leadership to a team of radio engineering including progress monitoring, coaching, mentoring, and effective upward reporting.
  • Training of new and existing staff.  Review work for technical accuracy and adequacy

Reporting

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Work effectively with equipment and service vendors and provide executive level professional presentations of engineering results and recommendations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years experience in wireless telecom industry
  • University Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Telecommunications)
  • Professional Engineering designation
  • Radio wireless network design and RF engineering project lead
  • Strong understanding and experience working on GSM/UMTS/HSPA/ LTE & NR
  • Good technical understanding of TDMA, WCDMA and OFDMA air interface protocols
  • Excellent understanding of radio propagation principles including, but not limited to the following bands; 600MHz, 700MHz, 800MHz, 1900MHz, AWS, 2.5GHz and 3.5/3.8GHz and mmWave.
  • Good theoretical understanding of Tx/Rx Radio and Antenna system design
  • Worked proficiently with  Info Vista/Planet RF Planning tool (or equivalent)
  • Understanding of RF radiation safety and Canada SC6 standard
  • Excellent communicator – Bilingual (French and English) to collaborate with colleagues on a national scale.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel (macros) et Access, SQL is asset
  • Valid driver's license
