JOB SUMMARY

This job is for use in the Business Support Services (BSS) Branch.
The Business Support Services (BSS) Branch is responsible for providing business support through a centralized branch that consolidates and streamlines the delivery of specialized business supports and services to an assigned department, and standardizes where feasible. The dual mandate of the BSS is to provide key business knowledge and capacity to support policy, project management and a number of administrative functions to General Managers and operational Services and Branches within the Department, and to support the City as a whole by working collectively and collaboratively to enhance operations and support corporate-wide initiatives.  

 

*This temporary position will be of interest to candidates who have worked with GIS and spatial data as this position is heavily slanted toward a GIS and spatial data focus.   Advanced technical knowledge in GIS including experience implementing web mapping applications and understanding GIS database structures and mobile field solutions is also beneficial. *

 

You are responsible for supporting the department in the development, implementation and administration of effective and efficient organizational performance practices related to business process improvement, quality management, performance measures and key performance indicators to support the alignment and achievement of the department’s strategic goals; and leading the development and implementation of departmental performance measurement and reporting frameworks. You also provide project management services for assigned projects related to business improvement and performance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in business process review, performance measures and evaluation, conducting comprehensive research, analysis/auditing/reporting.

  • Possess general knowledge of the Corporation, departmental business requirements, policies and legislation related to the department

  • Techniques for program design, development, implementation and evaluation
  • Techniques for cost-benefit analysis, performance evaluation and benchmarking

  • Best practice and risk-managed approaches 
  • Principles and techniques of project management 
  • Corporate computer systems and application 
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

  • Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing       
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
