We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data/Information Architect to support the development of a Common Semantic Data Model (conceptual and logical) as part of a new pan-Canadian health data standard initiative. This is a 6-month remote contract to start, open to candidates across Canada.

In this role, you will shape the structure, semantics, and interoperability of health information across jurisdictions and systems in Canada. The position involves close collaboration with clinical, technical, and policy stakeholders to ensure cohesive and standards-based information architecture.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Information and Data architecture including standards, concepts, patterns, best practices and methodologies.

  • 10+ years of Logical Data Modelling experience.

  • 10+ years of Semantic Modelling experience.

  • 10+ years of experience as a Senior Information/Data Architect working on enterprise-wide transformative projects.

  • 7+ years of solid healthcare data standards knowledge (e.g. FHIR, HL7 CDA, ISO11179) and terminology/classifications knowledge (SNOMED, LOINC, ICD).

  • 7+ years of experience with external stakeholder engagements (clinical, technical and policy experts).

  • 5+ years with Formal Modelling Notations (e.g. UML, ER, OWL).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • 5+ years leading the development of enterprise data models for large organizations in the healthcare space.

  • 5+ years of project delivery experience on large-scale data architecture-related initiatives.

  • 4+ years of understanding of data governance concepts.

  • 4+ years of experience with data semantics via enterprise information models, terminologies, ontologies, glossaries, etc.

  • 4+ years of subject matter data expertise in healthcare. Experience in multiple healthcare sectors is an asset.


Nice-to-Have Skills

  • 5+ years of experience working with Data Modelling tools such as SPARX Enterprise Architect or equivalent (e.g. Erwin, PowerDesigner).

  • 5+ years of experience with business vision, strategy, and roadmaps.

  • 3+ years of experience with data management best practices (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK) or other. Experience with Metadata architecture.

  • 3+ years with TOGAF, Zachman, or other architecture frameworks.

  • 3+ years of understanding of the International Patient Summary (IPS) standard.

  • 3+ years of general understanding of other Enterprise Architecture domains (such as Business or Application Architecture).

  • 3+ years of understanding of Reference and Master Data Management.
