About Our Opportunity

 

We’re hiring two (2) Financial Co-op Students to join our Financial and Administration team. In this role, you are responsible for assisting with project work, processing payments in a timely and efficient manner, and providing administrative support to the financial clerks.

 

Your work is performed in a fast-paced, highly sensitive, confidential environment.

 

As a student, you will gain extensive knowledge of the public sector, government decision-making and communications, and other concepts. Primary Accountabilities

 

As the Financial Co-Op Student, a few of your key responsibilities will include assisting in:

 

  • Various project work (including work within Excel spreadsheets, SharePoint, and SAP)
  • Processing and verifying balances and payments related to vendors for program areas
  • Analyzing invoices and maintaining an accurate filing system for all vendor billing
  • Tracking and organizing various data in our database, SAP, and spreadsheets
  • Helping staff to address discrepancies and errors
  • Preparing monthly reports
  • Performing deposits and handling cash
  • Organizing filing, office inventory, typing various correspondence, and maintaining an accurate bring-forward system

 

You may assist the Financial Clerk in supporting the development of program, management and statistical (financial and operational) reports, and other administrative duties.

Qualifications and Experience

 

You must be at least an undergraduate student enrolled in a business administration or commerce cooperative education program.

 

You possess strong computer skills and are proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). You also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines, and are flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. While not required, it is considered an asset if you have knowledge of the corporate financial management system (SAP).

 

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

This opportunity can be based out of our Halifax, Kentville, or New Glasgow office. Please identify your preferred location on your application.

Pay Grade:  HOURLY 

Salary Range:  $18.22 - $29.69 Hourly
