Purpose of Job:

To create and deliver highly engaging, visually dynamic video content that supports and enhances Scotia iTRADE’s investor education initiatives across digital platforms.

This role will design, produce, and edit short-form videos and multimedia assets for YouTube, Reels, educational programs, and marketing campaigns – helping drive broader engagement, learning, and brand presence among self-directed investors.

In addition to core video production, the Video Creator will also contribute to social content creation by developing and repurposing content for YouTube, Instagram, and other key platforms – ensuring education materials are optimized for format and audience engagement.

The Video Creator – Editor will collaborate closely with the education team and marketing partners to deliver best-in-class video learning experiences.

 

Major Accountabilities:

Video Production & Editing:

  • Plan, shoot, and edit high-impact, short-form video content for investor education (YouTube, Reels, platform tutorials, social explainers).
  • Manage full video production cycle: pre-production, filming, editing, audio mixing, graphics/animation integration, and delivery.
  • Build and maintain visual standards aligned to iTRADE’s brand guidelines and education goals.
  • Partner with education manager to identify opportunities for video-driven education and engagement.
  • Work with external partners (e.g. guest speakers) to coordinate video recording and production as needed.
  • Optimize video content for accessibility (captions, audio clarity) and cross-platform distribution.

 

Content Support & Innovation:

  • Stay current on best practices in educational video production, social-first video formats, and emerging tools.
  • Experiment with new formats and storytelling techniques to engage evolving investor audiences (younger segments, mobile-first users).
  • Support content repurposing and re-editing to maximize content lifecycle and reach.
  • Collaborate with marketing and social teams to align video content with broader campaigns.

 

Project & Production Management:

  • Manage video projects from concept to delivery under tight timelines with minimal direction.
  • Own technical aspects of production (lighting, sound, video quality).
  • Maintain and evolve an efficient video production workflow, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Ensure all produced content is compliant with relevant regulatory, legal, and accessibility standards.

 

Contribute to the effective functioning of Scotia iTRADE by:

  • Work closely with Manager, Client Education and effectively collaborate with internal iTRADE teams and Scotiabak to deliver a cohesive, consistent, and a ‘best in class’ education experience for clients.
  • Supporting the strategic goal of delivering a "best in class" investor education experience through high-quality video content.
  • Contributing creative ideas and content approaches to drive engagement and impact.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and ownership in delivering education priorities.
  • Developing and executing a meaningful Employee Development Plan.

 

Education / Work Experience / Designations:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a video creator, editor, or technical producer in a content, media, or creative services role.
  • Experience working across the full video production cycle, including camera operation and editing.
  • Courses and certifications in video editing software like Adobe Creative Suite are highly valuable; including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Animate, and Audition.
  • Ability to plan, film, edit (Adobe Creative Suite), schedule, and publish daily content across various social platforms –  such as YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok.
  • Strong portfolio of short-form video content (YouTube, Reels, social-first education or marketing) with familiarity of designs to deliver educational concepts and creating video content to drive learning outcomes.
  • Support the design and execution of integrated media strategies, working collaboratively with partners, digital content teams, Marketing, as well as control partners in legal, privacy and compliance.
  • Prior knowledge of financial markets, online investing, the self-directed space and investor education is an asset.

Additional Candidate Requirements:

  • A proven track record of delivering results through a collaborative, inclusive style and process that respects all partners and their respective roles and interests, and builds the lines of communication and understanding throughout all initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple video projects in parallel and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and follow-through skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable to evolving project requirements.
  • French language fluency is an asset.
