The Team:

 

Our mission as the Cloud Pattern Engineering team is to develop patterns and services to enable our business and technology partners across the bank to deploy workloads on cloud to leverage the cloud capabilities and compute power to drive business insights.

 

The Role:

 

We are looking for an energetic and results-driven Senior Cloud Engineer who is passionate about technology and is excited to play a key role in advancing the bank on its cloud strategy by contributing to the development of patterns and services to enable the adoption of native cloud platform products and services for the broad enterprise use.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

 

  • Lead the design of cloud patterns and services to enable safe enterprise-wide use of cloud
  • Design, implement and refactor code in accordance with bank security and compliance standards
  • Ensure software patterns and services are developed and/or configured to scale and meet high availability, integrity and reliability, security and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with technology partners and technical product managers to understand common use cases and behaviours, and contribute to the design of reusable and configurable software patterns and artifacts
  • Ensure compliancy with Enterprise Architecture best practices, Service Reliability and Release Management Processes and prepare documentation or presentations as required
  • Research and recommend enhancements to the technical solution design based on new and emerging technologies that are consistent with Scotiabank's Technology and Business Roadmap
  • Lead the research and development of new patterns and services based on latest technology trends including the adoption of AI tools to accelerate software development lifecycle
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, and its Code of Conduct, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, and regulatory requirements

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Expertise with cloud deployments, services and capabilities (Google, Microsoft Azure, GKE)
  • Experience with the development and deployment of reusable infrastructure-as-code modules to provision cloud resources using GitHub and Terraform
  • Breadth of technology and language experience, excellent coding practices (Microservices, Event Streaming, Databases, Cryptography, Kubernetes, Java Spring Boot, Python, Helm, HCL)
  • Full understanding of Software Development lifecycle, CI/CD and service reliability/ resiliency
  • Focus on scalable, enterprise-level software system design (both code and infrastructure levels)
  • Strong problem-solving skills to rapidly assess problem situations and recommend alternate solutions to effectively resolve complex problems
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively liaise with business and strategic technology partners and internal technical engineering and operational support team
