Responsible for leading and managing Global Workforce Security Screening activities ensuring alignment with standard procedures, regulatory requirements and service level agreements (SLAs). This role continuously collaborates with other business areas and vendors to align onboarding activities with business needs and to mitigate risk to the Bank. Provides guidance and coaching to build a strong, performance-oriented team.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads and drives a client-centric culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge while using Scotiabond values to drive our day-to-day interactions and decisions
  • Owns and maintains the Global Workforce Security Screening Policy working with key stakeholders to ensure it aligns with organizational standards and regulatory requirements while driving compliance across all regions and business units
  • Oversee and manage the organization's Work Eligibility processes, ensuring compliance with local, regional and global regulations while maintaining accurate records to mitigate risk to the Bank
  • Collaborates with Talent Acquisition, Corporate Security, Insider Threat and external screening vendors to align workforce security screening activities with business needs, develops solutions to enhance service effectiveness and drive efficiency
  • Participate in annual and ad-hoc audit initiatives with internal Audit teams and external agencies, ensuring necessary controls for processes are developed and updated when required.
  • Actively participates in project delivery, coordinating with various stakeholders to meet project timelines and objectives. Cultivates and strengthens relationships with individual business units in all Countries we support, understanding their unique needs and challenges to tailor workforce security screening processes accordingly. This involves regular communication, feedback collection, and continuous improvement of screening practices to enhance the overall new hire experience and operational efficiency.
  • Supports Manager, Global Workforce Security Screening with managing and hiring team members, reviewing performance, providing feedback, and creating a strong team atmosphere
  • Provides leadership and guidance to Global Workforce Security Screening team as required and provides expertise on escalated inquiries or concerns
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations within his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team to unlock the full potential of people

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary Degree in Human Resources or Business or related field
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of Organizational structure and complexity
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end Recruitment processes and programs
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance guidelines, compliance and reporting requirements related to Recruitment
  • Understanding of leading practices in recruitment and onboarding
  • Ability to cultivate networks and relationships
  • Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple initiatives
  • Experience coaching/leading a teams
  • Experience with transaction processing and data management
  • Experience in conflict / issue resolution
