Contributes to the overall success of the Business Solutions & Initiatives team, within Finance, specifically focused on evolving the Global Transaction Banking business.  Supports the design and implementation of enhanced business process and the data and system solutions to support the strategies and goals. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Work with stakeholders in Finance and the GTB Business to analyze and document the business process, objectives and problem statements to identify the gap between current state and future state business capabilities
  • Work with the CFO, Business Partners and Controller to establish a Finance Target Operating model, comprising services and process that define the value-added relationships between Finance, the Business and adjacent support functions.
  • Define Financial reporting, Management reporting and Analytics services that will support the execution of Business decision making, measurement of performance, examination of costs and allocation of resources.
  • Collaborate with Technologists to devise functional solutions that meet the business requirements.
  • Participate in devising the testing approach, test cases, success criteria and data requirements for the effective testing of solutions.
  • Support the execution of User Acceptance Testing through the coordination of end-user participation, analysis and organization of test results - and working with technologists to refine.
  • Continually invest in an awareness of Finance capabilities, business strategies, emerging trends, regulatory and industry developments to include in forward-thinking design and best practices
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
 

  • Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
  • Strong history of problem-solving accomplishments, supported by excellent analytical and communication skills
  • 8+ years of working within financial institutions, ideally within a Transaction Banking / Cash Management / Treasury / Supply-Chain Finance field
  • Exposure to Financial and Management reporting and supporting toolsets, including General Ledger
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a quantitative discipline. Accounting certification (CPA, CMA) or other certification such as FRM or CFA would be an asset.
  • Excellent written and visual documentation skills, including standard Office suite and Visio
  • Exposure to and/or experience with Alteryx, query languages such as SQL
  • Spanish language fluency would be an asset
