The Director, Pharmacy Data, Insights & Innovation plays a future-focused leadership role responsible for defining the data and evidence foundation that underpins our pharmacy benefits strategy. This leader is accountable for the development of advanced analytics, trend modeling, real-world evidence, and health economic frameworks that guide how we evolve, assess, and communicate the value of our pharmacy programs, as well as other strategic elements.

This position is ideal for a professional with strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for data insights and client impact.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and evolution of Manulife’s pharmacy data strategy, aligning with broader enterprise analytics and digital transformation goals.
  • Create an integrated, dashboard view of pharmacy cost, utilization, trend, and intervention outcomes to support leadership decision-making.
  • Build pharmacy-specific KPIs, support predictive analytics models, and benchmarks to proactively identify risk or opportunity.
  • Create thought leadership to position Manulife as a forward-looking player in pharmacy data and health technology.
  • Own key data and financial impact products within the Manulife Pharmacy Benefits portfolio
  • Build and maintain a framework to evaluate clinical, economic, and humanistic outcomes of pharmacy benefit programs.
  • Support the move toward value-based design and contracting by producing health economic modeling to support pricing, formulary, and access decisions.
  • Lead internal pharmacy real-world evidence (RWE) efforts, leveraging internal claims and external datasets to validate impact.
  • Translate insights for non-technical audiences, equipping various internal teams with actionable insights.
  • Act as the pharmacy data liaison to the Pharmacy & Product Committees, working closely with our data analytics teams.
  • Partner with academic and government collaborators on research and public-private data partnerships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of health benefit structures and cost drivers in private or public payer environments.
  • Experience leading complex data and analytics initiatives in healthcare, insurance, or life sciences.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver insight-driven transformation strategies.
  • Strong experience in product/program management
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in health analytics, economics, actuarial science, or health innovation.
  • Strong storytelling and visualization capabilities using dashboards, reports, and presentations.
  • Degrees or credentials in health economics, statistics, public health, or data science are an asset.
  • Proven knowledge of the Canadian group benefits and pharmacy ecosystem.
  • Fully bilingual in English and French, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and asset

Working Arrangement

Salary range is expected to be between

$100,950.00 CAD - $181,710.00 CAD
