Senior Manager, Day-to-Day Banking – Toronto, ON

 

The Senior Manager, Day-to-Day Banking is a product management role responsible for the development and management of core Day-to-Day Banking bank accounts, associated revenue, and expenses. The incumbent will manage the tactics and strategies to maximize the financial performance of the business line while driving innovation, value, and an excellent customer experience. 

 

The Senior Manager, Day-to-Day Banking is in close collaboration with the Business analytics and Retail Customer Value teams to strategically design and manage products that align to the target customer segments within both the existing Scotiabank customer base and Canadian consumer base. The incumbent is responsible for engaging and partnering with numerous third parties and suppliers involved in this business. Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

  • Manage the product-line P&L for Day-to-Day bank accounts:
    • Deliver revenue from new and existing bank accounts.
    • Support expense management, including carving out a marketing budget and working with Finance and all internal and external partners to reduce structural costs;
    • Partner with Business Analytics to assess product and segment performance, as well as develop product strategies to drive continued improvement;
    • Collaborate across all teams with P&L levers, namely: Business Analytics, Retail Customer Value, Retail Performance, Payments Products and Digital Payments;
    • Champion the end-to-end customer experience and related structural costs;
    • Develop new opportunities and programs to increase portfolio growth & retention.

 

  • Develop, design, and recommend best in class Day-to-Day Banking solutions by:
    • Identifying & evaluating potential new products, product enhancements, and/or opportunities to reduce product shelf;
    • Leverage and contribute to a high-quality market intelligence program;
    • Identifying both short-term and long-term business objectives & critical milestones to achieve them;
    • Preparing proposals/business cases outlining product concept and business financial rationale.

 

  • Manage the product design and execution of Day-to-Day Banking products by:
    • Working closely with partners across the Bank, including Acquisition and Engagement, Marketing Planning, and Information Technology & Systems on the execution of new products and/or product enhancements;
    • Creating and managing in support with the Analytics team any product/plan specific dashboard reporting that will allow us to better monitor various performance criteria;
    • Ensuring product/plan materials are current across channels and contribute to ongoing development of new content;
    • Leading communication and providing subject matter expertise to channels and teams on Day-to-Day Banking products.

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

 

  • Build and leverage partnerships across the Bank to deliver against business objectives and provide excellent customer service.

 

  • Lead day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.

 

  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary degree. MBA or Masters in related field preferred.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Product management experience, preferably in banking products.
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationship with multiple stakeholders.
  • Creative approach to product development and differentiation; ability to monitor wider market/consumer trends and tailor new products accordingly.
  • Awareness of key environmental factors in the Day to Day Banking industry, including government and regulatory issues.
  • Excellent communication and long-term planning skills.
  • Solid understanding of business operations and risk issues for Day-to-Day Banking products.
  • Strong business and marketing acumen.

Working Conditions
