Manager, Advisor Deposit Services – Retail Deposits & Investments (Toronto, ON)

 

Contributes to the overall success of the Advisor Deposit Services (ADS) team within Retail Deposits and Investments in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Specifically contributes to the overall success of the Investment Savings Account (“ISA”) and Guaranteed Investment Certificate (“GIC”) deposit product book of business, distributed internally and externally in the wealth channel. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

The incumbent will work closely with partners in Pricing, Business Development, Compliance, Dynamic Funds, and external vendors to support projects related to growth in volume and revenue, as well as operational improvements that streamline the business, improve productivity, and meet regulatory compliance. The incumbent is responsible for managing processes related to implementing pricing strategies, content creation, monitoring the competitive landscape, liaising with ADS’ compliance and legal partners as well as support and implement strategies/initiatives that maximize financial performance and efficiency.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

  • Supports the ADS product and pricing strategy by:
    • Leading the completion of weekly and monthly dashboards to closely monitor GIC and ISA performance against annual goals.
    • Monitoring competitor pricing to provide feedback on recommended pricing changes.
    • Routinely analyzing ad hoc data and reports to provide product insights, shifts in demand or comment on long term trends.
    • Collaborating with the pricing team on determining GIC pricing and drafting rate recommendations.
    • Supporting the ISA rate change process by implementing rate changes, product promotions and update website communications.

 

  • Assists in Product Management and Development
    • Voluntary attendance to Scotiabank-sponsored games and events across Canada to build relationships with Wealth advisors who buy ADS products on behalf of their clients.
    • Engage with product teams at internal partners (MD Management and Scotia McLeod) and third-party brokers to highlight key benefits of ADS products and encourage the introduction of ADS products on their product shelves.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure the Business Development Specialists are provided with the necessary support related to product features / benefits / competitive positioning, etc.

 

  • Supports the business’ marketing and communication plans, including:
    • Ensuring the timely communication of new /enhanced products / related policies and procedures to internal and external partners.
    • Assists in creating marketing and communication material for the ADS website as well as assisting in general website maintenance.
    • Managing the ADS subscription list as well as drafting communications to advisors on current offerings, upcoming regulatory changes, and other pertinent news from ADS.
    • Developing and coordinating the annual advisor survey with the Global Brand and Customer Insights team.

 

  • Supports the Advisor Deposit Services team in operational and compliance-related tasks
    • Support deliverables on key projects and ad hoc requests related to compliance/regulatory changes, operational enhancements, new product launches and other long-term improvements related to the business.
    • Support the ADS and pricing teams in completing month-end reporting templates and monthly business updates.
    • Develop operational, compliance and regulatory policies/procedures, job aids and manual changes as new products/programs/initiatives are introduced.
    • Organize the ADS business meeting and monthly operations meeting.

 

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance or Accounting. CFA or MBA is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years working experience in a related field/capacity. Wealth Management experience is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in product pricing considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills with focus on written communication.
  • Driven problem solver with winning attitude.
  • Curious, seeks to understand complex issues.
  • Strong multi-tasking capability.
  • Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills
  • Strong presentation skills and awareness of technological environments of both the Bank and customers.
  • Strong collaborator and team player.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a non-standard office-based environment. This role is located in our downtown Toronto, ON office location. Non-standard hours may be required to meet business objectives.
