Regulatory Technology is looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst for Global Regulatory Reporting for both project work and ongoing application support. As part of a small team, the candidate will be actively involved in new regulatory initiatives and is accountable for collaborating with various teams such as the Front Office, Regulatory Compliance, Trade Floor Supervision, Market Risk, Global Middle Office, Back Office, and various consulting firms to collect, clarify and document requirements and provide support in audit and status documentation as well as preparing meeting material/minutes for key stakeholders. The candidate will also provide technical support for existing North American regulatory reporting regimes (primarily CFTC, SEC, CSA, and CIRO) through responding to queries from different groups and departments.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently deliver superior client service and initiate/lead continuous improvement processes that will result in the prevention of potential problems and/or fix shortcomings within existing applications and contribute to improving service and operational excellence to our users
  • Adherence to enterprise incident, problem and change management best practices and standards. This includes working with our internal and external partners to ensure root cause is identified and mitigating steps are implemented to minimize recurrence of issues
  • Timely communication of incidents and work effectively with Support and business users
  • Accountable for communicating status updates to end users
  • Provide subject matter expertise and use of incident/problem management skills in the daily production support of Regulatory Reporting applications for any connectivity, processing or functionality issues encountered
  • Take a lead role in application delivery projects and ensure that user requirements have been fulfilled prior to implementation
  • Maintain clear documentation to ensure that they are reviewed and updated on a periodic basis to reflect any changes/enhancement to applications
  • Assisting in performing in-depth and complex analysis of data produced for management and executive reporting.
  • Assist in performing trend analysis reporting to capture and highlight repeat/common types of failures and make recommendations towards a successful execution of a permanent solution
  • Ensure that application availability meets and/or exceeds user expectations by maintaining Service Level Agreements and Problem Management Agreements with internal and external service providers – escalating as required
  • Support a work environment that promotes customer service, quality, innovation and teamwork, and ensure timely communication of issues

Leadership Skills and Accountability:

Initiative Delivery: 

  • Support development of a delivery approach and work plan, aligned with the project milestone dates and considering constraints, dependencies and strategic drivers 
  • Estimate, forecast and manage the requirements and Business Testing effort including cost, resource and timeline 
  • Assess change requests and their impacts, checking for alignment to initiative objectives at all stages 
  • Identify and manage risks and issues, escalating to manager and partners where appropriate 

 

Requirements Management: 

  • Identify, document and validate current state processes and capabilities 
  • Support business with defining the business need or problem and identifying potential solutions
  • Analyze impacts to customers, stakeholders, employees, process, technology and budgets of selected solutions 
  • Plan and facilitate sessions to draw out requirements – both explicit and implicit, functional and non-functional 
  • Understand, challenge, categorize, prioritize and document business requirements 
  • Support development of business cases and RFI/RFPs with vendors if required 

 

Business Testing Management: 

  • Create the Test Strategy and Plan including identifying and documenting test scope, approach, resources, schedule, environments and data requirements 
  • Coordinate multiple business and stakeholder groups and facilitate the creation and execution of Testing Scenarios, Test Cases and Test Scripts 
  • Review Technical Test deliverables, progress and defects 
  • Facilitate and/or participate in testing of developed solutions, including communication of issues and participation in fixes 
  • Upload and manage test cases using HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)/JIRA 

Core Knowledge:

  • 5-10 years of work experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within Technology
  • Has a B.Sc./B.A./B.Eng. in computer science or information systems
  • Proficiency with Regulatory Reporting applications. Knowledge of Cappitech, DTCC, and/or TRAX is desirable, but not strictly mandatory.
  • Highly motivated individual with a proven track record to deliver results
  • Exposure to and understanding of Capital Markets financial products across FICC and Equities
  • Understanding of Reporting requirements pertaining to CFTC, SEC, CSA and CIRO
  • Prior experience dealing with Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office and Risk Management groups
  • Experience supporting distributed applications running on Linux and/or Windows
  • Executing queries, building Use Case Scenarios for business requests and small enhancements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Strong organizational, follow-up and priority-setting skills to handle multiple tasks/projects and to work independently
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills, combined with strong interpersonal skills will be required to work effectively while supporting other members of the team in achieving unit objectives and providing exceptional client service

Working conditions

This role operates within a hybrid working environment which entails balancing meaningful time spent in the office for collaboration and connection with teams based on the expectations of your business group and role, along with time spent working remotely.

Salary:
$75,900.00 - $141,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
