Lead, Health Data & Analytics. This is a
permanent full-time position that can be performed from anywhere in
Alberta. For this role, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced data and analytics leader to drive the organization’s use of administrative health data and economic methods. In this role, you will shape how data is acquired, managed, and transformed into actionable insights that inform decision‑making and system‑wide improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical leadership on projects involving the use of large-scale administrative datasets, including the application of health economics and advanced analytics.
- Guide teams in selecting and applying rigorous, innovative methods that ensure high‑quality, consistent, and evidence‑based outputs.
- Monitor and adopt emerging practices in data governance, analysis methods, and health economic evaluation to maintain leadership in health system analytics.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that support organizational priorities and long‑term strategies.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to design and scope initiatives that meet shared objectives.
- Build and sustain strategic relationships to enhance data use and analytic capacity across the organization.
- Work with senior leadership to define resource needs (training, tools, and infrastructure) that strengthen data management and analytic practices.
- Oversee project planning, resourcing, and delegation to ensure effective delivery and workload balance.
- Foster a collaborative, high‑performing team culture through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., economics, public health, health services research) or a master’s degree combined with extensive, directly relevant experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience working with large administrative health datasets, including extract‑transform‑load (ETL) processes and data integration.
- Demonstrated leadership experience guiding multidisciplinary teams in analytic or research environments.
- Strong knowledge of the regional health system, including its data environment, operational structure, and policy context.
- Proven expertise in applying health economic methods such as cost‑effectiveness analysis, economic modeling, or similar approaches using administrative data (asset).
- Advanced skills in database management, data manipulation, and programming with tools such as R, Python, SAS, or Stata is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of ethical data practices, quantitative design, and statistical rigor.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities with a track record of identifying innovative solutions for complex data challenges.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Adaptable and open to learning new methodologies and technologies.
- Effective leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams.
- Willingness to travel within the province (and occasionally out of province)
