Purpose

 

The Manager Business Analysis is responsible for contributing to Private Banking’s overall success by providing credit and sales support to the Private Banking Account Management teams, assisting with the monitoring of all business plans and assisting with product offering and development activities.  In addition, the officer is responsible for supporting the business line for all retail and commercial support systems.

 


Accountabilities 

 

1.    Provide ongoing field support to Private Banking units within Scotia Wealth Management by:
•    Offering expert advice and counsel
•    Providing sales support for areas not supported by external groups 
•    Assisting with the roll out of new initiatives impacting Private Banking units
•    Maintaining a working knowledge of the day to day operation of the Private Banking Units in order to effectively communicate with all levels of staff

 

2.    Manage the preparation and dispatch of Financial Reporting
•    Researching service and product related requirements
•    Playing a crucial role in optimization and automation of financial reporting preparation processes
•    Consolidating/aggregating data from multiple sources
•    Organizing the data collected in a clear, consistent manner
•    Investigating variances and discrepancies proactively as they occur providing commentary to senior management and Private Banking Units

 

3.    Support and monitor National profit plan targets by:
•    Preparation of annual, quarterly and monthly financial analysis reports
•    Monitoring national and individual units performance against plan
•    Providing interim financial reporting support
•    Preparation and validation of quarterly and annual compensation payments

 

4.    Contribute to the effective functioning of the Private Banking Head Office team by:
•    Participating actively in team learning development activities and team performance achievements.
•    Building effective working relationships across the team and with various business line and corporate function contacts
•    Maintaining a high level of client service 
•    Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication
•    Actively participating and contributing to touch bases and team meetings
•    Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches 
•    Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members
•    Developing and executing a meaningful employee development plan

 


Education / Experience 


•    University or Community College degree preferred in Finance or Mathematics
•    Must have good knowledge of the broad Wealth management offering, including the services of Private Banking, and familiarity with the Bank’s International Private Banking offering.
•    Strong knowledge of Private Banking operations and sales environments
•    Knowledge of Process Mapping and Business Architecture, including use of related software/tools
•    Thorough business analysis, analytical and creative problem-solving skills 
•    Proven judgment as issues can be complex and without precedent.
•    Strong written and verbal skills required to prepare communications and interact effectively with other Bank departments and external parties
•    Excellent time management skills 
•    Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Proven technical skills and experience at using analytical software tools and applications such as Power BI, Python, SQL, VBA
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Expert knowledge of Retail and Commercial Lending policies and procedures
•    Ability to work with others of varying levels, expertise and skills
