This position is responsible for delivering critical technical analysis (assessments, advice, and opinions) to support the preparation of complex designated industrial (DI) property assessment on behalf of the Provincial Assessor (PA) for the Province of Alberta.
1. Work on complex engineering assignments requiring professional judgment.
2. Review production capacities, and production profiles.
3. Interpret technical data to evaluate productivity, reservoir potential, and facility constraints.
4. Present technical findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to non-engineer personnel.
5. Apply knowledge of legislation and regulations to determine property valuation for complex properties.
6. Provide leadership or mentorship when applicable.
7. Align technical work with departmental business goals and industry trends.

Drive For Results - Aligns different groups to achieve goals and realize broader outcomes. The Assessment Engineer provides expert technical advice and consultation to department staff and senior management.

University graduation in Engineering, plus five years related experience; or equivalent as described below. Eligible for membership with the APEGA or AAA.
Equivalency: Additional related education considered in lieu of experience on a one-for-one basis.
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets
- Must be registered with APEGA and maintain good standing
- Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas and oil sands industry
- Sound knowledge of engineering principles, industry standards and practices, including facilities used for resource development
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and related legislation
- Experience in multi-million-dollar projects and project management
- Knowledge in property assessment administration and regulated assessment in Alberta
- Strong awareness of provincial policies and legal precedents

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
