Here’s the scoop - Summary

The QFS Coordinator will work as part of the Global QFS team to ensure the goals of the Global Research Innovation Safety Excellence (RISE) department are met.  This position is responsible for QFS related projects primarily in administration, coordination and implementation of QFS systems.

The QFS Coordinator will be working out of our Landmark Corporate Office in Edmonton, AB or Auburn, Kentucky, USA.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Support the Quality, Food Safety (QFS) team in executing specific QFS-related projects as assigned by the project lead.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data relevant to QFS to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Prepare clear and accurate documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform administrative duties such as file management, data entry, meeting scheduling, and preparation of QFS materials.
  • Assist in managing project timelines, tracking deliverables, and facilitating communication across departments involved in QFS initiatives.
  • Contribute to the implementation and development of QFS-related procedures, tools, or improvements under the supervision of QFS leadership.
  • Facilitate the integration of the Champion Global QFS program by conducting discovery assessments, identifying the best-fit solutions, and delivering targeted training to ensure consistent implementation and compliance at corporate and kitchen levels.
  • Adhere to all applicable instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs, NCR/CAPA/RCA), Good Manufacturing Practices and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the QFS function such as continuously monitor processes for improvement opportunities and support quality KPI’s.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in a related program (science, agriculture, nutrition, biology or a similar discipline).
  • At least 2 years of quality food safety/relevant experience in food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills for performing trend analyses; proficient in data processing and interpretation.
  • Understanding of food safety systems and standards, including HACCP/SQF/FSSC 22000/GFSI/FSMA/USDA/FDA/AFFCO/FEDIAF or equivalent program. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Team,etc). 
  • Experience in project-based work is considered an asset
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and analytical thinking ability. 
  • Ability to respond appropriately and promptly under pressure. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate resources efficiently. 
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as demonstrating strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain cross-functional relationship  
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs. 

Working Conditions

  • Work environment is hybrid; the position works both in the office, production facility and at home.
  • Ability to physically inspect company property and assets, in order to meet food safety requirements. 
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations. 
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. 
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Extended hours of work as required. 
  • Exposure to a pet food production environment that includes dust, noise, odors, and/or fluctuating temperatures. 
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required.

  • US: $70,000 - $80,000 USD annual salary, annual bonus eligibility, 401k with company matching.
  • Canada: $80,000 - $90,000 CAD annual salary, annual bonus eligibility, RRSP with company matching
