The role we are offering you:
The Global Mobility Tax & Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring tax compliance and strategic support for CAE’s international transfers and assignee population. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end tax lifecycle of globally mobile employees, including tax equalization (TEQ), shadow payroll coordination, foreign tax credit (FTC) recovery, and collaboration with external tax providers. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in international tax, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
Coordinate home and host country tax return processes, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
Provide high-level guidance on tax implications of international transfers including temporary assignments, permanent transfers, and business travel.
Monitor changes in global tax legislation and assess impact on CAE’s mobility programs.
Keep track of tax consultations authorized to the tax provider and ensure necessary Tax IDs are obtained in timely manner.
Liaise with payroll teams and vendors to ensure alignment between compensation data and tax filings.
Support and consult on shadow payroll processes in host countries to ensure accurate tax withholding and reporting.
Support year-end compensation collection and reconciliation processes for globally mobile employees.
Oversee the preparation and review of tax equalization calculations and true-ups in collaboration with external providers (e.g., KPMG, Deloitte).
Track and manage Foreign Tax Credit (FTC) & Reimbursement claims and refunds; ensure timely reimbursement to CAE where applicable.
Collaborate with tax providers to file amended returns when necessary to recover FTCs.
Ensure timely and accurate tax payments and compliance according to the tax regulations.
Review the tax notifications issued by the tax authorities to ensure they are properly and timely addressed.
Coordinate with finance on the receipt of TEQ payments and provide necessary charge codes.
Ensure timely TEQ reimbursements are made to the employee (where applicable) using Workday.
Assist with hypo tax provision calculations with Finances.
Maintain organized tax records and documentation.
Review and advise about the Special work requests from providers.
Support the Manager, Global Mobility on ongoing review of policies, programs, processes, and monitoring of market best practices as it relates to global mobility and tax
Reporting, Analytics & KPIs
Design and maintain dashboards to monitor key global mobility tax metrics, including TEQ balances, FTC recovery rates, and shadow payroll compliance
Develop and track KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of global mobility tax processes.
Partner with HRIS and Finance teams to enhance Global Mobility data integration and reporting capabilities across systems.
Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives for Global Mobility function.
Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a subject matter expert to HR, Finance, Legal, and external tax advisors.
Provide high-level guidance to employees on tax-related mattersincluding hypothetical tax, tax protection, and personal tax obligations.
Participate in policy development and continuous improvement initiatives related to global mobility tax.
Our ideal candidate has:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field; CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in global mobility tax, preferably in a multinational or Big Four environment.
Strong knowledge of Canadian and international tax laws, tax equalization, and payroll compliance.
Experience with shadow payroll, FTC processes, and global compensation reporting.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Workday or similar HRIS systems.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.
Bilingual in English and French is strongly preferred.

Working Conditions
This role is hybrid, with a combination of in-office and remote work. The incumbent will have the flexibility to work from home on certain days while still being able to meet tight deadlines and handle pressure.
