Role Responsibilities

Print Services provides scheduled daily client server-based and mainframe print, on demand print projects, and mechanical envelope inserting services to the Government of Alberta customers.

Print Services work contributes to the overall achievement of ministries and your ability to adhere and meet timelines will ensure all government programs receive the print products they need to serve Albertans efficiently and effectively. Your ability to develop networks will enable you to work with customers to make any necessary changes and address concerns related to their documents.

Print Services is one team working together to ensure products are printed and inserted seamlessly. Reporting to the Print Services Supervisor, the Inserter Operator will be responsible for all production envelope inserting in accordance with service level agreements (SLA’s).

Skill Set:

  • Understand how to set up machines for different jobs and materials. This includes material and machine setup; operating mechanical inserters while performing quality checks.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills are required to address issues to maximize efficiency and resolve minor machine malfunctions.
  • Proficiency in operating and adjusting inserting equipment and performing preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet production goals.
  • Inspect materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met. 
  • Ability to multitask and organize conflicting priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confirm the final product reconciliation according to established processes prior to releasing material for Canada Post.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, especially when reporting issues or collaborating on tasks.
  • Capable of lifting to 50 lbs. at one time, as well as, bending and kneeling.  The ability to push, pull loaded skids, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Technical skills are required for utilizing various software applications, including inserting management software.
  • Responsibility for running daily reports, producing electronic statements of mailing, maintaining envelope stock inventory.

Qualifications

A high school diploma with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-speed envelope inserting production environment.

Equivalencies may be considrered:
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience. 

Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience in a high-speed mechanical envelope inserting production environment.
  • Technical knowledge related to inserting equipment.
  • Experience and ability to handle repetitive lifting items of up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience and ability to operate loaded skids (push/pull) and supplies.
  • Ability and willingness to work shifts, and rotations, which may include overtime, including weekends as required at various times throughout the year to meet service level agreements.
  • Experience and the ability to stand for long periods and which will include frequent bending.

Assets:

  • Experience with the use of computers and Microsoft Office applications, e.g., Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of mail management tools and technology. (eg: Quadient - inserters/mail management software tools, or equivalent. Canada Post software such as creating Electronic Statements of Mailing (ESOM).)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in high multi-task environment.
  • Experience in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Experience working with and knowledge of Canada Post tools, regulations, and rates.


Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.

Notes

Hours of work: Currently, the hours of for this position is Monday – Friday, 6:15 am – 2:30 pm. This position may require shift work, rotations and overtime (including weekends) at various times throughout the year.

Positions currently available: One (1) permanent position.

Location: Muriel Stanley Venne Provincial Centre, 12360 – 142 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T5L4X9. This location does not have nearby public transportation.
