We are seeking a detail-oriented research candidate with a background in social science research to support a scholarly project focused on the impact of military-related absences and relocations due to postings. The selected contractor will synthesize findings from a curated list of 45 academic articles to inform the development of a manuscript.
This work is ideal for a research assistant with experience conducting literature reviews and thematic synthesis.
The contractor will be responsible for:
Reviewing a curated list of 45 academic articles
Creating a matrix/table based on findings
Synthesizing key themes and patterns into a clear, well-organized report (max 10 pages)
Participating in a follow-up discussion to identify the most relevant articles for deeper analysis
Supporting prioritization and planning for a second, related manuscript (subject to time and budget availability)
Completed synthesis matrix (spreadsheet or table format)
Summary report (maximum 10 pages) outlining key findings across studies
Availability for one follow-up meeting to discuss next steps
Project start: As soon as possible
First deliverable (table/matrix): ~20 hours of work, ideally within 2–3 weeks of start date
Final report and wrap-up: By September 10, 2025
University degree in social sciences, public policy, or a related field
3–5 years of experience in research roles (e.g., research assistant, academic intern)
Familiarity with qualitative methods, literature reviews, and thematic synthesis
Demonstrated ability to extract insights from academic literature
Strong writing and analytical skills
Independent, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines
Access to academic journal databases (e.g., via university alumni privileges or personal subscriptions)
English fluency required; French not required
No security clearance required
