Our client is seeking a skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to support the enhancement and automation of their cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This will be a remote contract on an 8 month term.

Responsibilities: 

• Design, automate, and optimize the container environment.

• Implement CI/CD pipelines and scripts for efficient cloud resource provisioning.

• Design, deploy, and manage container orchestration platforms, including monitoring Amazon EKS clusters, implementing Kubernetes autoscaling, and managing Docker containers.

• Package and deploy applications into containers using tools such as Docker and Podman; including writing Dockerfiles, building images, and maintaining container registries.

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications to automate build, test, and deployment processes.

• Implement monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) for containerized environments to enhance observability and troubleshooting.

• Optimize the performance of containerized applications through effective resource allocation, horizontal scaling, and load balancing.

• Automate cloud resource creation—including accounts, networking, and firewall rules—using Shell/Python scripting, AWS Lambda, and CloudFormation templates.

• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline or GitLab Runner.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, procedures, and runbooks.

• Provide regular briefings and written updates to the Project Manager and senior management, outlining progress, challenges, and project risks.

Skills and Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience as an AWS Cloud Engineer or DevOps Engineer in a multi-account production environment.

• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS, and Fargate.

• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using tools like AWS CodePipeline, GitLab Runner, and Ansible.

• Proficiency in developing AWS Lambda functions.

• Familiarity with AWS networking services including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect Gateway, Route 53, API Gateway, and Gateway Load Balancer.

• Scripting expertise in Shell, Python, and AWS CloudFormation.

• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, written communication, and verbal presentation skills.
